Parents and caregivers
Supporting your child
Parents and caregivers are an important part of the equation when someone is deciding whether to join the Defence Force.
Your support is crucial, and no matter what stage of life your child is at – from late teens to early thirties – what you say and think matters.
We want you to have the information you need to help your child make an informed decision about their career.
There's a lot of information on this website about all our roles, as well as what life is like in the Defence Force serving New Zealand. There are many benefits to joining us, and we look after and invest in our people as our greatest asset.
Our advice to any parent or caregiver is to look carefully through this website with your loved one, so you have a complete and thorough perspective of what the modern Defence Force has to offer your child.
If you would like more information or have some specific questions, we invite you to get in touch with us.
We also have a special resource for families of our Service personnel. You can find out more on the Force 4 Families website.
Whatever you want for the person you love, we want too.
